Sahaja Dharma Sejahtera Foundation
The elderly population in Indonesia continues to grow each year, with 12% of the population, or around 29 million people, being elderly as of 2023. This number is projected to soar to 50 million by 2045, or about 20% of the total population. On the other hand, many elderly people in Indonesia live alone or only with their spouse, without adequate family support. Around 7.10% of elderly people live alone, while 22.07% live only with their spouse. Many of them, about 10.04%, are also from underprivileged groups who face difficulties in accessing healthcare services and basic needs.
The Sahaja Dharma Sejahtera Foundation, established on March 31, 2023, has a mission to improve the quality of life for the elderly in Indonesia, especially in Bali. The foundation runs various programs designed to provide holistic support for the elderly, covering three main areas:
1. Sahaja Caring: A home visit program focused on elderly health check-ups, providing assistance with medications and basic necessities. This program is designed to reach elderly individuals who lack easy access to healthcare facilities.
2. Sahaja Training: An education and training program for communities and family members to enhance their ability to care for the elderly effectively and with quality. This training aims to strengthen the family’s role in supporting the holistic health and well-being of the elderly, enabling them to provide better care in daily life.
3. Sahaja Kelana: Free services provided to elderly individuals in various regions, with the goal of improving their quality of life through sustainable initiatives. This program includes various forms of support, from healthcare assistance to social needs.
The Sahaja Foundation fulfills its mission based on core values such as compassion, respect for human dignity, and holistic well-being. With the vision of creating healthy, happy, and prosperous individuals, the foundation is committed to delivering quality healthcare services with an empathetic approach.
